In the 17th century Room of Infernal Hunts four extraordinary canvases by Paolo Veronese (Verona 1528- Venice 1588) are finally back in place. After centuries, the recent discovery of two of the canvases at Villa San Remigio in Pallanza (owned by Regione Piemonte) and the exceptional loan of the other two from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art has recomposed the cycle of the Allegories that was painted by Veronese, probably for the Libreria Marciana in Venice in 1557. The paintings present three male figures using instruments to measure the earth and the sky, a reference to the science of navigation and mathematics, and one female figure symbolizing Sculpture.
On this occasion the two "local" canvases were restored at the "La Venaria Reale" Conservation and Restoration Center in the framework of the recent law for the protection and the promotion of the cultural heritage.
