Album '34 - '76 . The documents on display are the result of a selection curated by the Director of the Dance Virgilio Sieni .
"I emerged from the Historical Archives of the Venice Biennale , the wonderful photographic documents unpublished going to build a geography looks, bodies , postures and experience between dance, theater and music of the period 1934-1976 .
Appears in a hectic world , where the interpreters of these feats photographed, lend it back to the theater with travel and life , giving us a profound sense of spectacle meant as reflection and contrast of contemporary time . Journey that opens reflections on aesthetics and modes of research, showing traces of melancholy underground as it appears in the works choreographed between '34 and '57 , and then project into the glades of research and a theater that looked at body as the primary element , leading to the convergence between life and research.
The show features tracks that are integrated into a cabinet of curiosities that research inside the impetus for new readings , accurate combinations , electrocuting coincidences :
the plastic figures of a dance poses for expressionistic in the representation of Andersen's fairy tale; ballets sincerely educated and transfiguring Aurel M. Milloss , between '48 and '50 , with the scenes of De Pisis which is inspired by Degas; poses a worldliness to the limits of melancholy as it looks on the faces of the artists of the Grand Ballet de Marquis de Cuevas scenes of Dali and in the looks of the stars of the New York City Ballet '53 depicted in white abstract of the fund; the grotesque Idiot of Tatania Gsvosky that accompanies the music of Hans Werner Henze;
the wise comic panels to form tableaux of expressions in Miraculous Mandarin Oriental, ballet Jacques Etcheverry '55 ;
the Exposure of L. Berio and the emergence of physicality in the stage performers led by Ann Halprin in '63 ;
frameworks and choreographed by Alwin Nikolais anthropological and Alvin Ailey in relation to the dances of oriental culture of the ancient Indian theater, opera and ballet in Beijing Sunda ( Java ).
The exhibition opens a look on the work of Luca Ronconi in the Biennials of theater and music '75 and '76 : visions illuminating here just mentioned , the ceremonial of the body by Meredith Monk , Living Theater , Jerzy Grotowski , Eugenio Barba , Julian Scabia Bob Wilson.
Tracks that lead us to a deeper devote human and artistic experience of Peter Brook '76 where, through a photographic cycle , it appears clear sense of tactility art when he turns to another, the existing , dignity places. First of five insights that we will dedicate a result of Merce Cunningham, Living Theater, Meredith Monk, Jerzy Grotowski, with extraordinary photographic documents .
The exhibition also includes, as a counterpoint and olfactory senses, a little house in miniature, completely covered biscuits, accompanied by a series of preparatory drawings and videos , that point the way towards the realization of the event The little house of cookies that will be presented during Carnival of the boys".
