Deepening the knowledge, study and appreciation of photographic culture in a territory, like that of Venice, very close to historical reasons to photography, is among the main objectives of the Casa dei Tre Oci. The interaction with the territory has found a natural outlet in comparison with the Venetian galleries dedicated to the sector. The result is a mirror varied, from which originate many insights. In the festival Tre Oci Three Exhibition, Casa dei Tre Oci chose to invite 6 venetian galleries that always operate in the field of photography:
Bugno Art Gallery, established in 1991 and located in front of the Teatro la Fenice, deals with photography and modern and contemporary art, proposing a rotation, a selection of works by Venetian masters and foreign works of art made of glass. Luca Campigotto, Paolo Ventura and Andrea Morucchio photographers are chosen to represent the gallery. The first Venetian, the second Milanese working in New York, two different points of view in common a particular sensitivity to the issue of the war. They are joined by Andrea Morucchio, visual artist Venetian, in the photograph, he devoted himself mainly to still life and reportage.
Ikona Gallery, founded by Ziva Kraus in 1979, the same year in which it was organized the international exhibition Venice '79 the Photograph, was the first Venetian gallery in the industry. In this exhibition are proposed big names like Helmut Newton, William Klein, Gisele Freund, Berenice Abbott, Lisette Model, Rosalind Solomon, Barbara Morgan, Adolf De Meyer, Robert Doisneau, Helen Levitt, Ferdinando Scianna, some of them just from the gallery were exposed for the first time in Italy. Besides them, some emerging photographers, including the young Venetian David Weber, the challenge continues to produce culture and to overcome a purely exhibition.
Giorgio Mastinu Fine Art deals with modern and contemporary art, ranging from drawings, prints, photographs, documents. Here presents a series of photographs from the 800 - '900, until the' 70s. All images are anonymous, small format, collected over the years in different countries. The challenge is to make photography "without photographers", leave the essentials without using large format or high-sounding names.
Galleria Michela Rizzo, born in 2004, has opened this year the new headquarters on the island of Giudecca, at the former brewery. Here offers a selection of shots by Gabriele Basilico, an Italian artist of the most significant and internationally recognized, that link two significant moments of his research: on the one hand the representation of the world in a moment of Milanese industrial irreversible processing, the late seventies, the other reflection on the artistic history of our country.
Salizada Gallery was founded in 2012 with an eye to the past, leading to Venice photo products born from the archive of the Fratelli Alinari, and a blind eye to this, by organizing various cultural events with contemporary artists. Presents Luisa Menazzi Moretti, a photograph made of fragments and details consistency almost pictorial, and Elio Ciol. One of the most important Italian photographers, who writes for sixty years with the light, focusing with particular attention to the landscape.
Upp Gallery, located on the island of Giudecca, alternates in programming projects ranging from performance to painting, from installation to photography, with attention paid to ethical and social dynamics more intimate and personal. Here presents Michal Martychowiec, Polish artist reflecting on individual memory, and the dynamics of sedimentation and transformation of memory, and Rachel Maistrello young Venetian artist who in his works often brings photography to performance.
