Erected by the Discalced Carmelites from 1642 following designs by Andrea Costaguta, it is one of the churches more affected by the bombing of 13 July 1943, with the facade by Carlo Filippo Aliberti (1764) and the first span suffering the most damage. The Latin-cross shaped interior preserves a very rich decoration in marbles and stuccoes and many paintings from the 1600s and the 1700s, including the Transverberation of the heart of Saint Teresa by Moncalvo (1625) and the Holy Family by Sebastiano Conca (1730 ca).
