This room holds numerous canvases by the painter, representing an extraordinary archive of eighteenth-century Venetian society, masterfully recounted in Longhi’s typically ironic and attentive style. In this painting, for example, the elegant lady accompanied by the squire is having her portrait painted on an oval canvas similar to many of those in the museum.
