Chagall Museum

Nizza, Avenue Docteur Ménard

DESCRIZIONE:
The museum, inaugurated in 1973, was built while Marc Chagall is still alive. It constitutes one of the most important collections of the works of this French artist and in particular it brings together the works of Chagall on the theme of the Bible: these are seventeen paintings dedicated to Genesis, the Exodus and the Canticle of Canticles and sketches related to the same paintings. Marc Chagall and his second wife, Valentina, donated the paintings in 1966 and sketches to the French state in 1972. The museum also houses sculptures, a mosaic, a tapestry and three stained glass windows.
