This is a tiny area in the larger neighborhood of Trieste, which gets its name from the architect Gino Coppedè who designed it at the start of the 1900s. He gave unusual touches to the moldings, door and window frames of the buildings, topped off by an entryway to the area, an archway, inspired by a Roman Imperial Triumphal Arch. The most characteristic part is surely Piazza Mincio with the Fontana delle Rane, the Frog Fountain (1924).

THINGS TO KNOW: The Coppedè has two memorable connections with cinema: the arch at number 2 Piazza Mincio is a perfect reproduction of a set piece from the silent classic Cabiria (1912); the entire area was the backdrop to two films by Dario Argento, Inferno and L’uccello dalle Piume di Cristallo.
