Catania - The library of Baron Antonio Ursino Recupero, which together with the Civica forms the Biblioteche Riunite of Catania, will soon be home to an important event.

Tuesday April 15th, 2014 the digitalization project of ancient manuscripts and books from the Benedictine fund will be presented before Mayor Enzo Bianco. This initiative is part of a major program known as "Science and technology digital library".

The work, sponsored and coordinated by the National Research Center and the University of Catania, regards also one of the most precious books in the world.
It is one of the illuminated Bible by Pietro Cavallini, dated around the end of the 13th century and composed by 440 papers, including the Old and New Testaments, and the letters of St. Jerome.

Besides this, the Libraries host over 210.000 volumes, of which 2.000 manuscripts, 132 incunables and almost 4.000 fifteener, and are part of the Unesco Heritage within the group of the Late-Baroque cities in the Noto Valley.
