Rome - The Musei Capitolini in Rome are ready to pay homage to Michelangelo with a major exhibition from May 27th to September 14th, 2014.

"1564 - 2014 Michelangelo, incontrare un artista universale" will celebrate the 450th anniversary of the death of the master, presenting approximately 150 works, of which seventy made ??by his own hand. Through thematic contrasts, the ambitious project compares sculptures and drawings to monumental works, traditionally unmovable, but also sonnets and poems, offering a new and broad perspective of this artist and his multidisciplinary approach.

Among the most important works there will be the marble bust of Brutus from the Museo del Bargello, a work of great political impact that Michelangelo created after leaving Florence. In addition to this there will be the "Study for the Head of Leda", the wooden model of St. Lawrence from the Casa Buonarroti and he delicate bas-relief of the "Madonna della Scala", created when he was very young.

Finally, many other works will come from some of the most important institutions in Italy and abroad, such as the Uffizi Gallery, the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice, the Musei Vaticani, the Albertina in Vienna and the British Museum in London.
