Venice - This May the museum of Palazzo Grimani organizes three guided tours, dedicated to the masterpiece "Visions of the Hereafter" by Hieronymus Bosch, with the support of the staff of the Soprintendenza.

According to some documents, Bosch's four panels were in the venetian house of Cardinal Grimani, a passionate collector, before 1521. That year, Marcantonio Michiel, an art connoisseur, wrote about the "canvas of Hell" and the "canvas of Dreams", which he admired as "real incunabula of Modern art."

Back to their original home after a long exhibition at the Musée du Luxembourg in Paris, the four panels entitled "Terrestrial Paradise", "Ascent of the Blessed", "Fall of the Damned" and "Hell", will be analyzed in three guided tours.
On this occasion they will be examined not only with reference to Grimani's collection, but also from the technical point of view, with the observation of their conservation and renovation issues.

The panels of "Visions of the Hereafter" will be restored, following an agreement signed by the Ministry for Education, Culture and Science of Netherlands and MiBACT in May, 2013. Renovations will include also the "Triptych of St. Liberata" and the "Hermit Saints Triptych" by the same author, displayed in Venices.

The renovation of the works, sponsored by the Dutch Government through the BRCP (Bosch Research and Conservation Project) and by the Getty Foudation of Los Angeles, is currently in progress at the Renovation workshop of the Soprintendenza in Venice.
