Verona - The exhibition "Veronese: Magnificence in Renaissance Venice" is about to end, and will be transferred from the National Gallery of London to Palazzo della Gran Guardia in Verona after June 15th, 2014.

On the occasion of its moving to the second exhibiting space, which will welcome 100 works, the restoration of the "Feast in the House of Levi", one of the most important and controversial masterpieces of the Venetian master, was completed.
The large painting, which belongs to the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice, was stored for over one hundred years in the Sala degli Arazzi at Palazzo Barbieri, the city hall of Verona.

About a year ago, it was located in a sort of open workshop, hosted in the Museo degli Affreschi, allowing visitors to admire the work during the entire restoration phase.

During this operation, which returned the original colors, in-depth studies were also conducted: Caliari's creative activity and some pentimenti were identified through a delicate technique of infrared images.
Finally, the canvas unveiled some pictorial contributions by at least three artists: Benedetto, Carletto and Gabriele Caliari, children and pupils of the Veronese, employed at his workshop.
