GAM – Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea
The painting was presented at the Universal Exposition of Vienna of 1873, where it received fair acclaim. The restoration of the painting proved that Fontanesi re-used the support already used three years earlier in the work shown at the Exposition of Parma (Il Mattino). Considered one of the masterpieces of the artist, it especially highlights the brightness of the light that, dimmed by clouds, gives the landscape a rarefied and spiritual effect.
