Procession in Saint Mark’s Square
This painting adorned the Sala dell’Albergo of the Scuola di San Giovanni Evangelista and was part of a cycle that celebrated the miracles of the relics of the Cross that the school possessed. Here it is the prayer of Jacopo de Salis that is depicted, whose son was healed during the procession of 25 April 1444. The background represents a valuable record of the square before its sixteenth-century transformation.
