Operæ. Independent design fair, the fair dedicated to independent and collectible design, is back. The eighth edition of the fair will take place from the 3rd to the 5th November (preview on the 2nd) at Lingotto Fiere in Turin, Italy.
The refined selection of international emerging designers, the focus on collectible contemporary design, the enhancement of artisanal excellence, the opening up of new business opportunities are the hallmarks of the fair, a platform where designers, galleries, companies, institutions meet.
The fair presents a well-structured picture of the international contemporary and collectible design scene, with its two sections respectively dedicated to Designers and Design Galleries. After last year’s success, the fair confirms the one-of-a-kind format of the past edition, and it presents designers and galleries together, by displaying the creators of unique pieces and limited editions collections alongside their promoting actors, supporters of their projects’ progress and distribution across the international collectors’ market.
The duo matches two complementary subjects, fostering partnerships and new business opportunities among exhibitors on one side, and the collectors’ research and the public’s curiosity on the other.
Contemporary design is a growth sector, which has increasingly been receiving attention and nourishing the development of new trends among collectors. They are curious and interested people, passionate supporters of innovation and competent enthusiasts of project research, as the visitors whom Contemporary Art Torino attracts to Turin during the week the city dedicates to contemporary languages. Within the framework of the event, Operæ takes place in the first week of November at Lingotto Fiere in Turin, already venue of Artissima – International Fair of Contemporary Art and Club to Club – International Festival of Avant-garde and Pop, thus developing a synergic headquarters for contemporary experimental creations. This year also independent fashion finds its place in the fair with Dreamers, guest project of Operæ, which presents a landscape of visions and projects, clothes and accessories to narrate the new contemporary scene.
Operæ chooses as curator Alice Stori Liechtenstein, founder of the Schloss Hollenegg for Design, who selects the title Why Design for the eighth edition of the fair. A statement, more than a question: design as the lens through which to read and interpret contemporary society.
Operæ brings attention to design that is a powerful expression of contemporary values, to designers that express themselves with courage, to objects that have the potential to become ambassadors of our time.
