In 2023, Aquileia celebrates the 25th anniversary of the conferment of the UNESCO title and on the occasion hosts "via Appia Regina Viarum", the first UNESCO candidacy promoted and coordinated by the Ministry of Culture.
The nine hundred kilometer consular road that connects Rome to Brindisi has been officially nominated to enter the 2023 Unesco World Heritage List with a project promoted by the Ministry of Culture and the involvement of 4 regions (Lazio, Campania, Basilicata and Puglia), 12 among provinces and metropolitan cities, 73 municipalities, the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archaeology, 15 parks and 25 Italian and foreign universities.
