Basilica of Maxentius
Erected on the Palantine by Maxentius in 308, it was completed by Constantine, who inverted the way in which it was facing. It is the last great civic basilica of Rome, which, in the following years, was enriched by Christian churches. Its last remaining column was placed by Maderno in 1613 on orders from Paul V, in the piazza outside the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore where it remains today.

THINGS TO KNOW: Curiosity: During the Rome Olympics in 1960, the greco-roman wrestling competition was held here.
