Portrait of Henry VIII
This was painted by the german painter for the wedding of the sovereign to Princess Anna di Clèves. Holbein was one of the great portraitists of his time and he shows his talent fully in this work, bringing out in rich detail, not only the face of the king, but his fine garments as well.
THINGS TO KNOW: Curiosity: It seems that Henry VIII was convinced to marry for the fourth time in 1540, thanks to having seen a portrait of Anna di Clèves, also by Holbein. However, the king was  disappointed upon meeting the woman in person.
