The palace is one of the masterpieces of Venetian baroque art. Built for the Pesaro family starting from 1628 by Baldassare Longhena, it was however completed after his death by Antonio Gaspari. It features an especially elegant facade overlooking the Grand Canal and an equally elegant staircase designed by Gaspari.
Today it is the seat of the Museum of Oriental Art and the International Gallery of Modern Art and it houses XIX XX-century collections of paintings and sculptures by the main Italian and international artists.
