Built in the XV century, Ca' Centani is a Gothic palace, a typical example of Venetian civil architecture of the period. The Goldoni family moved in at the end of the 1600s. Carlo was born here in 1707 and lived in until 1719, when they moved to Perugia. In 1931 the building was bequeathed to the city. Today it is a Museum on the life and works of the celebrated playwright, whose biting representations of life in Venice and the costumes of its people made him one of the most illustrious citizens of the city. Inside, the plays are brought to life by the reproduction of entire sets. Do not miss the Puppets theatre, commissioned for young Carlo by his father and testimony of the excellence of Venetian crafts. The Home also houses a Theatre Performance Study Centre, with its Library being one of the main specialist libraries.
