Cenacolo Palladiano

Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore

Cenacolo Palladiano
Begun in 1560, this refectory was the Palladio’s first commission for the convent. The building comprises various different settings which lead scenographically to the refectory: a high, inclined staircase, a closet with two monumental basins designed by Palladio himself, and finally the refectory, flooded with light, which housed the extraordinary canvas Wedding at Cana by Veronese, now in the Louvre (1562).
