The canvas, adorning one of the walls of the Archive Room, was conceived by Gaetano Zompini and celebrates Mary through various episodes of the Old Testament. Judith or The Virgin Defeating the Infernal Monster, is portrayed by Piazzetta with sword in hand, ready to decapitate Holofernes, who has by now fainted.
