DESCRIZIONE:
It gets its name from the area that in the Thirteeth Century was occupied by the Saxons, who built a center to assist co-nationals on pilgrimage to the city. Innocent III (1198-1216) built a large hospital entrusted to the Order of the Santo Spirito, still functioning today. These are part of the complex of the Corsia Sistina, built by Baccio Pontelli under Sixtus IV della Rovere (1473-78), with its beautiful portal by Bregno, an octagonal dome and mullions; the renaissance Church of the Holy Spirit; the Palazzo del Commendatore.
