Rome - Beyond the Tiber, in an area where excavations have never been carried on, there is still a whole world that awaits to be explored.
Archaeologists have always believed that the river marked the northern boundaries of Ostia Antica. However, recent discoveries allowed to identify a whole commercial area beyond the opposite bank, much broader than Pompeii, with high walls and towers that were 6 mt high, deposits and streets.
The Soprintendenza ai Beni Archeologici of Rome considers it an incredible revelation, as these information may lead to reconsider the commercial power of Imperial Rome.
A series of geophysical surveys and the studies carried on by the archeologists of the Soprintendenza speciale lead to these findings, and they were developed in collaboration with British scholars form the Southampton-British School at Rome and from the University of Cambridge.
