Rome - Federica Mogherini, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Dario Franceschini, Minister for Cultural Heritage, presented the new collection of the Farnesina, which now includes nearly 400 works of Contemporary art, thanks to recent acquisitions.

The collection, created in 2000 to welcome foreign delegations, introduces our cultural heritage featuring works by important artists of the 20th century, from the Futurists, such as Balla, Boccioni, Depero and to de Chirico's Metaphysics.
Besides them, some Post-War authors are displayed, from Guttuso to Carla Accardi's Abstraction painting, from Burri's Arte Informale to Fontana's  at Spatialism.
Finally, Arte Povera, Pop and Conceptual Art are included, reaching the Nuova figurazione, Anacronismo and Transavantgarde.

In order to ensure the exposure of such a broad collection, loaned to the Ministry, the setting is periodically changed, allowing the works to travel to the Italian culture centers throughout the world.
Also, during the whole duration of the Italian Presidency of the European Union, the monumental building of the Farnesina will host twenty works from the deposits of the MAXXI.
