Venice - The enthusiasm toward collateral events organized outside the main locations grows in parallel with the increasing success of the Architecture Biennale.

These events - president Paolo Baratta said - contribute, with a consistent number of countries participating without a pavilion inside the Giardini or the Arsenale, to promote the 14. Exhibition, turning it into an urban phenomenon, able to involve each place in the city."

While in 2012 they were 18, this year Fundamentals encompasses 21 of them, selected directly by Rem Koolhaas and supported by national and international non-profit institutions.

Outside the official pavilions, it will be possible to explore further contributions coming from different foreign countries as well as from Venice. The protagonist will be China, participating with five projects, plus one from Taiwan. Europe, instead, will introduce the works by two Swiss architecture school and by the Salon Suisse, together with others from Liechtenstein and from Catalonia, form Moscow and from Istanbul.

Finally, the collateral event which is closely related to the territory is the project "M9/Transforming the City", which will be displayed at the Fondazione di Venezia. Here, they will present the plan for the new Museum of the 20th Century that will be established in Mestre, which aims at becoming the main driver for the urban regeneration of the Venice mainland.
