Vicenza - On the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the great Michelangelo Buonarroti, the Museo Civico in Bassano del Grappa dedicates to the master a major exhibition titled "Michelangelo. Graphic masterpieces".

The event, which will show 18 drawings from the collection of the Casa Buonarroti, will open on april 25th, 2014, soon after the end of the renovation works.

In his work Vasari tells that Michelangelo, before dying in Tome in 1564, destroyed a large number of drawings and sketches, to prevent anyone from seeing his research and the proofs of his art. It is also for this anxiety for perfection that Michelangelo's graphic works appear so rare today.

The exhibition is also an occasion of exchange between the museum of Bassano and the institution in Florence, which in 2013 hosted "Antonio Canova, beauty and memory". On that occasion some works coming from the Museo Civico were displayed, as it owns the largest collection of drawings by the master from Possagno.
