Silver Altarpiece
The high altar of the Church of San Salvador is home to an extraordinary piece of goldsmith’s art. Divided into three orders, it shows the transfiguration at the centre with the portrait and coat of arms of the patron, the prior Francesco de Grazia, beneath it. The altarpiece, exhibited between 3 and 15 August and on important festivals, is covered by Tiepolo’s monumental Transfiguration of Christ (1563) on weekdays.
