Paolo Caccia Dominioni. An artist on the war front

After the great success in the most prestigious institutional centers of Gorizia and in Friuli Venezia Giulia, the exhibition entitled Paolo Caccia Dominioni. An artist on the war front, conceived and curated by architect and art critic Marianna Accerboni, moved to the State Library Stelio Crise of Trieste. In November, the exhibition will travel to several institutional offices in Brussels with the support of the Belgian General Commissioner at the Memorial of the First World War.

The important and complex event - which takes advantage of the deepening historic Admiral Sq. Ferdinando Sanfelice di Monteforte, Professor of Strategy at the Catholic University of Milan and the University of Florence and Trieste Pole of Gorizia, former Military Representative to Italy at NATO and EU Military Committees - offers more than 600 pieces mostly unreleased and rare, including projects, drawings, paintings, writings, documents and testimony of Paul Caccia Dominioni (Nerviano, prov. of Milan 1896 - Rome 1992), architect, formidable painter and designer, illustrator, writer (Stall Award) and soldier, character-class.

From the Provincial Museum - Museum of the Great War of Gorizia and from important collections of families Formentini and Lantieri Gorizia, Cosolo Fogliano Redipuglia (Go), Cantons Burr of the United States, from the collection of Sergio Coccia Roma and other prestigious private collections, the works and materials on display recount the highlights of his multifaceted activities, ideally bringing in that extreme North East of Italy, where the great architect fought during the First World War and later lived for more than 30 years, working for more prestigious clients. In this sense, the exhibition is part in major commemorative events of the Great War and in memory of those in Caccia Dominioni: between them we remember the dedication to his name of a street in Milan and Turin - planned shortly - and the important exhibition organized in 2012 by the Italian Institute of Culture in Ankara, Turkey, where Caccia Dominioni designed in 1939 the Village Italy with the Italian Embassy. 

To emphasize the relationship between the imaginary war of a century ago, represented by Caccia Dominioni, and contemporary, a section of the exhibition will be devoted to new images taken between 2014 and 2015 by photographer-artist Claudio Saccari, inspired by places Great War on the Isonzo front and the Carso region. Also, since the show is especially dedicated to young people, both as users and as actors, another exhibition, entitled A hundred years later, will propose the works of young artists from Trieste, Friuli Venezia Giulia and cross-border (Austria, Slovenia) on the theme of Great War.

The exhibition is also in SPAZIOCAVANA Zinelli & Perizzi of Trieste (opening Saturday, July 11 at 19), where it will be a selection of architectural drawings of Caccia Dominioni, and Barracks Guastatori Berghinz of Udine, which collects very broad testimony of his work and its history.
