From 21 November 2014 to 31 January 2015 in Turin, the Spazio Don Chisciotte of Fondazione Bottari Lattes hosts the exhibition "The forgotten painting. Mario Lattes and the Informal in Italy between the 50s and 60s".
The exhibition, curated by Ettore Ghinassi, presents a selection of works by Mario Lattes, dating back to his abstract period, that are part of those 6 artists - Antonio Carena, Alfredo Chighine, Mario D’Adda, Tancredi Parmeggiani, Sergio Romiti and Piero Simondo - Italian protagonists of abstraction informal, between the '50s and' 60s of the last century.
Their research is into the scope of figurative matrix Italian and European, characterized by a synthesis of invention and formal rigor.
The event aims to bring under due consideration historical-critical, a generation of writers who wrote an important page in Italian contemporary art of the twentieth century, whose memory has become, in some cases, into oblivion, as for Mario D'Adda, or only partial understanding of an experiment varied, as was the case for the abstract works of Mario Lattes, although not numerous, short-term.
"Despite the diversity of technical and stylistic inclinations very personal - Ettore Ghinassi says in his catalog essay - these seven authentic painters have been selected to delineate an aspect of the Informal Italian foreign to most formulas overindulgent - gestural painting or action, the poetic sign or the subject - which are usually associated with the urge to compensate with new dentures semantics (drawn, for example, from the psychology of the Unconscious) amputation of the meaning made from abstract".
During the opening, there will be two evenings of insight into the historical period considered by the exhibition of some of the protagonists of those years.
The inauguration will be on Thursday November 20 at 18.
