Contemporary Bestiary

The relationship between art and science and art and nature is one of the oldest and indissoluble. The plant and animal life, the secrets of microscopic life forms as well as the macroscopic aspects dell'animato and the inanimate, the finite and the infinite were topics of discussion and stimulation, areas of inquiry and suggestion of artistic expression right from antiquity.
Contemporary artists have continued to meet and be inspired, to reflect and wonder about the reality that emerges not only from the simple view of nature, but also scientific survey, that opens up new knowledge, awareness and questions.
On the occasion of the Biennale 2013 contemporary art is called to dialogue with the permanent collection of the Museum of Natural History of Venice, in an alternation between great dramatic effect and microscopic surprise, according to formal similarities of content and links. Together with naturalistic exhibits, the works of established artists on the Italian and international scene: Maurizio Cattelan with his now famous Town Musicians of Bremen on the other hand savage (saves Loves Life, 1995), Vanessa Beecroft whose performances are tableaux vivants, Paola Pivi Francesco Vezzoli, Rosa Barba, Lara Favaretto, Luca Trevisani, Adrian Paci, Roberto Cuoghi, Nico Vascellari, Francesco Gennari, Marcella Vanzo, Mezzaqui, Marcia, Enhance, Airò, Gianni Caravaggio.
