Designing public art in terms of its effectiveness and durability: this is the challenge that the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation launches twenty young artists selected in collaboration with the Moderna Galerija / Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova (MG / MSUM ) in Ljubljana. On display in the gallery in Piazza San Marco are the six best projects for a work of contemporary public art ( TomažFurlan , Travel Grgurevic , kvass and Andrea Nicola Martini, Rachel Maistrello , Alberto Scodro and Matej Stupica ) presented by artists Italian and Slovenian who were able to answer fully the criteria of feasibility, artistic quality and relevance to the social context.
The projects on display, selected from among the total twenty , ten and ten to Italy to Slovenia, will be joined by materials from the collection of the Museum MG / MSUM.
The artists were able to propose solutions that distance themselves from the traditional language monumental and celebratory, pioneering the use of unusual materials, taking a critical look compared to the social dynamics and the art world, going to take the components of dialogue with the territory in its social and environmental dynamics.
The winning artist, selected among the six in the exhibition, will be announced during the opening of the exhibition in Venice and will have the opportunity to realize their work in outer space in front of the museum in Ljubljana: a site-specific work that will be visible to the public from 20 June 2014.
All twenty projects collected will be included in a catalog in three languages ??( Italian , Slovenian and English) will be published on the occasion of the final installation in Ljubljana .
