Collateral Event of the 56th International Art Exhibition - la Biennale di Venezia
Organized by Shanghai Himalayas Museum and curated by Shun-kit Wong, the exhibition covers a wide range of media including painting, photography, video, installation, sketch, archival documents, the exhibition features thirteen artists/artist collective and three sections: Peach Blossom Spring – The Imagery of the Past, Metamorphosis – The Imagery of the Reality and Shan-Shui Society – The Imagery of the Future.
From the classic landscape depicted by ancient and modern painters such as Xie Shicheng and He Haixia, to problems commonly perceived in the modern society and artistically pointed out by contemporary artists such as Gao Shiqiang, Hu Xiangcheng, Lee Maelee (Korea), Ni Weihua, Wang Nanming, Wang Jiuliang, Yang Yongliang, Yuan Shun and Yangjiang Group, and eventually to the poetic solutions suggested by architects Ma Yansong and Chen Bochong, a development thread of the “Shan-Shui” spirit is unveiled along the way.
