The light, the glass and their interaction of artistic and scientific-technical are the theme of the exhibition conceived and promoted by Vicarte, the research unit "Glass and Ceramics for the Arts" based at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the New University of Lisbon.
The event is held in Venice in the International Year of the Light from 8 February to 19 April, in collaboration with the Institute of Sciences, Arts and Letters.
In the rooms of the library of Palazzo Loredan the curators of the exhibition, Rosa Barovier Mentasti and Francesca Jubilees, they invited 15 international artists to exhibit their work exploring the mutual influences between the two elements from a formal point of view and conceptual.
Using neon or natural light, the borosilicate glass for micro and macro sculptures, traditional techniques of Murano or new technologies, photography, painting and drawing, luminescence and transparency, artists Teresa Almeida, Mika Aoki, Enrico Tommaso de Paris, Armanda Duarte, Veronica Green, Alan Jaras, Anna-Lea Kopperi, Richard Meitner, Eric Michel, Doigo Navarro, Fernando Quintas, Silvano Rubino, Elisabeth Scherffig, Cesare Toffolo and Robert Wiley animate the spaces of the headquarters of the Veneto with some of the most interesting experiments focused on the mutual relationship between the two elements.
The project is coordinated by António Pires de Matos, Isabel Silveira Godinho and Andreia Ruivo of VICARTE.
