Press Release:
The personal exhibition of the Egyptian artist Wael Shawky (Alexandria, Egypt, 1971) hosted by the Palazzo Grimani Museum and entitled I Am Hymns of the New Temples - أنا تراتیل المعابد الجدیدة constitutes an international museum preview, co-curated by Massimo Osanna (General Director of Museums of the Ministry of Culture), Andrea Viliani (Co-curator of the Pompeii Commitment Program. Archaeological Subjects) and Gabriel Zuchtriegel (Director of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii) and organized in collaboration between the Museum of Palazzo Grimani and the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. The exhibition includes I Am Hymns of the New Temples - أنا تراتیل المعابد الجدیدة - a 2023 film, premiered at the Archaeological Park of Pompeii - and a selection of multi-material sculptures and drawings created by the artist between 2022 and 2024. The exhibition is conceived as an ideal dialogue between different places and times, through which contemporary works coexist with the archaeological works and the historical rooms of Palazzo Grimani, tracing an ideal perspective path that from the Camaron d'Oro leads to the so-called Tribuna, also known as Antiquarium or Camerino delle Antichità, spectacular "center" of the palace and its narratives.
