Admired and famous worldwide, arrives for the first time in Italy by the State Museum of Contemporary Art of Thessaloniki - in Turin from 3 October 2014 to 15 February 2015 in the central Palazzo Chiablese, exhibition space of the Royal Polo - a core of exceptional collection of Russian avantgarde George Costakis (1913 - 1970): the man in Moscow in the years immediately following the Second World War, in defiance of the prohibitions and ostracism of the Stalinist regime, he decided to methodically collect examples of experimental Russian turn of the century, saving from destruction and oblivion this vital component of the culture of the twentieth century.
The exhibition "Russian Avantgarde. From Malevich to Rod?enko. Masterpieces from the Costakis collection", with about three hundred works on display - including paintings, gouaches and watercolors, works of applied art, documents, and a group of a hundred drawings constructivist architecture - is proposed as a real encyclopedic exposition of the Russian,
representative of all the major movements of the time (from the New Impressionism and Symbolism al Cubo Futurism, Suprematism from the cosmism), rich in masterpieces of the greatest artists of those years comeMalevi?, Popova, Rodchenko, Rozanova, El Lissitzky, Stepanova.
Total immersion - curated by Maria Tsantsanoglou and Angeliki Charistou - to understand the radical and revolutionary than it has been defined by Camilla Gray "the great experiment" of twentieth century art.
