On the Aventine, at the end of Via Santa Sabina there is a cul-de-sac on the right of which is a long wall with a large door at its center. Looking through the keyhole of this door, it is possible to see precisely the dome of Saint Peter's, which appears among branches of the trees of the garden within, as if by magic. The door is the entrance to the complex of the Knights of Malta, that in the 1700s commissioned Piranesi to build the Church of Santa Maria del Priorato, part of the complex
