Boy with a Basket of Fruit
This is one of Caravaggio's most famous paintings and was probably painted while the artist was at the studio of Cavalier d’Arpino. This studio had its entire collection confiscated by Scipione Borghese. The Gallery conserves other masterpieces by Caravaggio, including David and Goliath, which the painter from Lombardy sent to Paul V to receive favor. The gallery also has the Madonna Palafrenieri.
