Venus Playing the Harp (Allegory of Music)
Already a part of the Barberini collection, this painting was created by the master from Parma before he left for Naples in 1634 to honor the harp player Marco Marazzuoli, known at the time as Marco dell’Arpa. The musician bequeathed the painting to Cardinal Antonio Barberini. The instrument played by Venus in the painting actually belonged to the Barberini family and can be found at the  the Museum of Musical Instruments in Rome.
