Opened in 1974, Parco Cavalieri di Vittorio Veneto is known by Turin residents as Piazza d'Armi (Parade Ground – in the past it used to be the location of square-bashing). Its requalification took place for the Olympic Games of Turin 2006 and today this large park (220,000 sqm) is closely connected to some of the most important sports facilities of the city (the indoor sports arena and the Olympic Stadium). Inside there are many sculptures and vast spaces for sports activities. In the summer, it becomes an important meeting point for the southern districts of the city.
