"Longhena's" Library

The library, with its wealth of ancient codes, was Longhena’s first commission in the former Benedictine monastery of San Giorgio Maggiore. The architect also designed the huge walnut bookshelves with the wooden statues of illustrious figures, which indicated the various areas of knowledge. Executed by the German Franz Pauc, they were later recovered by Giorgio Cini.
