Noon; Dawn; Evening
The paintings were commissioned by the Querini family from Sebastiano Ricci for the ceiling of the gallery, a large room containing the collection’s most important works. They represent three moments in the day: noon, with the fight between the light and the dark, dawn, with a young man awakening the world with water, and evening, where a youth tries to delay the night with arrows.
