Pesaro Madonna
After the success of the Assunta, Jacopo Pesaro, Bishop of Pafo, commissioned the altarpiece for the altar of the Immaculate Conception from Titian. Only delivered in 1526, it celebrated the patron and his family, depicting them with the saints whose names they bear as Mary looks on from the high throne. Behind them stand columns symbolizing the gates of Heaven.
