DESCRIZIONE:
The most elegant and striking square of the city was designed by Carlo di Castellamonte in 1637 as the core of the new XVII-century town plan. Enclosed by palaces and colonnades, in the centre stands the Equestrian monument to Emmanuel Philibert, Duke of Savoy made by Carlo Marocchetti in 1838. On the east the XVII-century Palazzo Solaro of Borgo di Castellamonte, today the seat of the Philharmonic Academy overlooks the square, and on the south west, the baroque churches of Santa Cristina and San Carlo frame via Roma.
