Ancona - From 21st to June 24th, 2014 Fabriano hosts the Forum Unesco Creative Cities. The town in the Marche region was recognized as a Unesco Creative City in the "Craft and Folk Arts" field.

The representatives of Santa Fe (New Mexico - USA), Aswan (Egypt), Kanazawa (Japan), Icheon (South Korea), Hangzhou (China) and Paducah (Kentucky, USA) and Bologna - the other Italian city that has gained this important recognition - will be the guests of this event.

The "Creative Cities Network", sponsored by Unesco aims to create a link among these cities, in order to turn cultural creativity into an essential element for their own economic development. Through this network, which includes, in addition to "Folk Art", other six areas - Music, Literature, Design, Media Arts, Gastronomy and Cinema - cities can share their own experiences, promoting their cultural products on domestic and international markets.

The Forum in Fabriano includes institutional meetings, public events and opportunities to meet representatives of the world economy and culture, which will discuss the theme of the city as an ideal place, able to host the most important challenges of our time: new jobs, new tourism, new businesses, new companies operating in cultural and creative sectors, and the basic conditions for a new local development.

Finally, on this occasion, a new program of "Artists residencies" will begin, transforming Fabriano into a workshop of culture en plain air and hosting important artists for long periods.
