Bari - The renovation of the five sections of the polyptych by Antonio Vivarini, depicting the Imago Pietatis, St. Louis of Touluse, St. Francis of Assisi, St. John the Baptist and St. Anthony of Padua, will be presented at the Provincial Gallery "Corrado Giaquinto" in Bari on Saturday March 1st.

The panels, created by the artist from Murano around 1467, belong to the collection of venetian paintings of the museum since 1928 and are remaining parts of a larger group, including at least ten  pieces. Three of them, belonging to the upper section and portraying St. Clare, St. Augustine and St. Bernardino of Siena, reside at the Museo Diocesano in Andria.

Together with the restoration, a new set-up was designed, which allows visitors to view some charcoal drawings, created by Vivarini's assistants, on the back side of three panels.
On this occasion, a book published by Marsilio will also be presented. It includes the story of the polyptych and the whole project of renovation, carried on by Giovanni Boraccesi in 2013 under the direction of Clara Gelao, in partnership with FAI and sponsored by Prada.
