Como - Two major works by Leonardo may have been kept in the shadows for many centuries. This is the hypothesis of Ernesto Solari, an artist and scholar who presented the results of his research few days ago in Como.

The first of the two works is a drawing of a lady, very similar to a well-known one from the Uffizi Gallery, which is believed to be a creation of a pupil. His studies, supported by radiocarbon analysis, allow its attribution to Leonardo's school, or even to the master himself. It seems that the "Da Vinci" signature appears on the upper edge of the lady's eye.

The second work could be even more important, as it is a terra-cotta from the XV century, where the contribution of Leonardo looks quite clear. If Solari's hypothesis was confirmed, this would be the only case of a sculpture by Leonardo survived until now.

The subject portrayed, a young Christ, according to his dating could resemble Salaì, Leonardo's dearest pupil. Apparently, a description of that times was found, where a work with the same technical and aesthetic characteristics is described.
