Perugia - Unesco is about to receive a new application, which is not coming from a single location this time, but from a nationwide site.
The proposal has just been approved and comes from twelve places in Central Italy that signed a protocol. With this, they could present their project to the offices in Paris.

The city of Perugia, in the role of project leader, will enhance the system of the original etruscan city-states, promoted individually as much as for their participation in a network, established as the ancient "Dodecapoli".
Besides the capital of Umbria, the other towns involved are Populonia, Arezzo, Chiusi, Cortona, Roselle, Volterra, Veio, Vulci and Cerere, together with Cervereti and Tarquinia. These two, actually, are are already part of the Unesco list since 2004.

The key points of their application are the will to highlight the cultural influences existed among the twelve towns in the archaic age, but also the promotion of this civilization's heritage, particularly from the architectural and artistic point of view.

This is a time of great attention toward the etruscan civilization: after the exhibition at the Musée Maillol in Paris, which ended few days ago, it is in the spotlight again with a display at Palazzo Casali in Cortona. It will open on March 22nd, 2014 with works coming from the British Museum.
