Reggio Calabria - On April 6th, 2014 the town of Rosarno opens the Archaeological Museum of the ancient Medma, a sub-colony founded by Epizephyrian Locrians around the 6th century B.C.

The first excavations in current Rosarno date back to 100 years ago, when archaeologist Paolo Orsi brought back to the light some artifacts from this important center of Magna Graecia.

Various objects found during the 20th century excavation campaigns are currently exhibited in the halls of renowned institutions, such as the Archaeological Museum in Reggio Calabria and the British Museum in London.
Many of them, including some ex-votos, will go back on display in their region of origin.

On the occasion of the opening, which comes almost ten years after the approval of the project, also the well-know archaeologist and scholar Salvatore Settis was invited, as he began his career here, in his birthplace.
