Rome - The Codice Palatino 313, the oldest illuminated manuscript of the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, will be presented on a unique occasion in the setting of Palazzo Firenze in Rome on February 26th.

The document, also known as Dante Poggiali from the name of the editor Gaetano Poggiali, who purchased it for his version of the Comedy published in 1807, features 37 fine miniature illustrations in the same style as Giotto, attributed to Pacino di Buonaguida, and includes comments by Jacopo Alighieri, the son of the poet.

It is usually exhibited at the National Central Library of Florence and it will be presented, in partnership with the Dante Alighieri Society and Imago, next to a replica, which will be available to browse.

The facsimile belongs to a limited edition of 599 copies that will be distributed among different institutions. Meanwhile, some images are already available on Twitter at @la_dante and @ImagoEd with the hashtag #ImagoDante and with a short excerpt of the corresponding canto.
