Venice - The Venice International Foundation and the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia this morning presented the project "Sublime Canova", aimed at restoring, promoting and revitalizing the section of the Museo Correr dedicated to Antonio Canova, the major European artist of the Neoclassical period.

The initiative, which is a significant part of the broader plan known as "Grande Correr", aims at to reorganizing in a unitary way the works.  Due to their current location, in fact, it is hard to appreciate them, as they are surrounded by sumptuous neoclassical halls, which often have the complete attention of visitors.
Recovering the unitary character of the collection will allow people to admire both the sculptures and the surrounding rooms .

The new chronological itinerary, organized in four rooms, will emphasize the creative process and the activity of the master from Possagno, showing the different stages of its production, from initial sketches to the final sculptures.

Sculptures such as "Apollo and Daphne", "Daedalus and Icarus" and "Perseus", which require more space, will be hosted in the Ballroom. The others will instead be divided between the Napoleon Gallery and two adjacent rooms, where also the "Mobile Canova"  - a sort of "altar-shrine" dedicated to the artist, will be placed.
